Archie Beckway is a powerful London politician at the height of his career. He's also a notorious womanizer whose antics have attracted a group of vicious blackmailers masquerading as cartoon characters. When Beckway turns to his friend Donovan, a somewhat benign crime lord angling for respectability and happy to do his high-placed friend a delicate favor, Donovan seeks out the services of Bobby Lennox, ex-boxer and occasional private eye, for some discreet nosing about.
