Winterbotham is well-known for his bestselling books The Ultra Secret and The Nazi Connection, which revealed the secret of the Ultra decrypts for the first time. He was Churchill's personal liaison with Bletchley Park, the country house where the Enigma codes were decrypted, and was at Churchill's right hand during some of the most important secret decisions of World War II. His autobiography contains many cameos of important figures of the time, as well as eye-witness accounts of historic events. However, the bulk of the book is a memoir of English life in a now almost forgotten age. His is a charming and delightful story.
