Aquarelle Aus Dem Turner-Nachlass

by Joseph Mallord William Turner

Turner's later watercolours include some of his most miraculous achievements, displaying an even greater delicacy and fluency of handling than his oil paintings while almost matching them in their range of mood. Nevertheless, whereas his oils can be seen in many museums and have been widely reproduced, his watercolours, despite their far greater number, are much less accessible. This selection of twenty-four of the best examples of his later style has been made from the group exhibited at the Tate Gallery, itself drawn from the over 19,000 drawings and sketch-book pages housed in the Print Room of the British Museum.
