A Death in Indian Hills (Sagebrush Western)

by Lewis B. Patten

None of the citizens of Indian Wells objected when the wounded Cheyenne was chained like an animal in the hardware store window. Feelings still ran high against the Indians and the three hunters who had shot him thought it would be a good joke to put him in a cage and put him on display. It wasn't amusing to the Sheriff though, or his nineteen-year-old son, Joseph. They already shared a deep anger about the way the town had ostracized Joseph and his Indian mother, and when they returned from tracking down a killer, they were outraged.
